From CIO to CBTO??

I had the pleassure of speaking at the CIO Circle - East in Newport, RI last month. In my blog,  Business Technology Breakthroughs (http://businesstechnologyfuturist.wordpress.com/2010/10/10/from-cio-to-cbto/), I discuss the impact of Cloud Computing on the strategic role of CIO and IT management in general. I'd welcome comments and reactions.

Very timely topic, Jack, thank you for bringing it to the community.

There seem to be many views of how the CIO role is changing in light of new delivery models. Here is Bruce Rogow's view in this Q&A and Peter Hinssen's perspective is here.

It would be great to hear from CIO members about their own experiences...what is it really like to be at the 'vortex' of these changes?

    Jack

I think your on the right track in helping readers understand the evolution of business and IT.  A convergence of business operationalized as technology is the future that is here today.

Business technolgy will be fulfilled via multiple types of delivery models.  With each of those models comes qualites of service that need to be matched to the demand of the business.

Private cloud, public cloud, trusted cloud, silo legacy delivery, etc... each have value/limitations/tradeoffs!

    Great work Jack!
