Julie Peeler

Director, (ISC)² Foundation, Clearwater, Fla.


Current Role and Responsibilities: The (ISC)2 Foundation aims to empower students, teachers and the public by supporting cybersecurity education and awareness. With a global membership of nearly 100,000 information and software security professionals, ISC² seeks to ensure that children have a positive and safe experience online. It also works to spur the development of the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. Julie is responsible for building, leading and managing the Foundation to carry out its goals.

Core Initiatives: The three core initiatives include research, community awareness and scholarships. During an interview with Smart Enterprise Exchange recently, Julie spoke about how to address the current shortage of security professionals. “We need to change the definition” of IT security jobs and make people—especially women—aware that broad skill sets, not just technical skills, are necessary.


Professional Background:

Julie’s experience includes planning, marketing, new business development, media, staff management, budget development and implementation. She holds a degree in journalism from Loyola University of Chicago and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University.
