In this three-part audiocast series, Brian Gillooly (pictured), Editor-in-Chief, Events, at InformationWeek and Smart Enterprise Exchange, discusses the impact of Practical Innovation, such as private cloud computing, mobile applications and social media, with two leading CIOs and a CA Technolgies executive.
The panelists were:
John Halamka, CIO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School; Richard Plane, who was until very recently the VP and CIO at Aviat Networks, formerly Harris Stratex Networks, and Tom Kendra, Executive Vice President for CA Technologies’ Enterprise Products and Solutions business line. Plane recently joined Harris' Cyber Intergrated Solutions as head of solutions development and delivery.
Part One: In this first part, the executives describe strategies for managing, funding and growing innovation efforts at their enterprise. Halamka discussed how the size of his operations has allowed him to host e-health record services for several smaller hospitals, as one example of innovative business models.
Part Two: The CIOs speak about the challenges they face in getting corporate buy-in for their innovative ideas.
Part Three: In part 3, panelists discuss ways that CIOs can enhance their role as business leaders when they drive innovation and practice good governance.
